Apple relies on a network of contract manufacturers for the assembly of its iPhone models. Foxconn, a prominent partner, handles a substantial portion of iPhone production, including 70% of the iPhone 15 series.
Lite-On Precision, a Chinese manufacturer, is responsible for 60% of iPhone 15 Plus assembly. Meanwhile, the higher-end iPhone 15 Pro series is primarily assembled by Foxconn (70%) and Pegatron (30%).
Interestingly, Lite-On Precision is China's sole contract manufacturer involved in iPhone assembly. Despite Foxconn's significant role, Apple is reportedly exploring production expansion in other countries, such as India, Vietnam, and Mexico.
To facilitate these efforts, Apple requires strong collaboration with local supply chains to ensure the availability of critical components. These partnerships underscore the complex nature of global electronics supply chains, involving a wide range of stakeholders.
